TARUWA FESTIVAL: Day 1 (Pictures 1-50)

So the much anticipated Taruwa festival kicked off today and boy was it awesome. The festival kicked off with a stage version of Bobo Omotayo's book; London life, Lagos living and it was hilarious. I haven't read the book yet but after watching the stage adaptation directed by Kenneth Uphopho that also featured an incredible cast of upcoming actors, I'm definitely going to be picking up Omotayo's book sooner than later.

Back to the festival though, this was just day one. If you're reading this just after I posted it then you still have a chance to take part in the festival. Tomorrow (Fri) the 7th of June, 2013 there's the Children's performance (11am), a film screening (2pm) and Open Mic Theatre (5pm). Open Mic Theatre is a quarterly production that always delivers so I recommend you come out for that one at all costs. Those 3 events are free of charge but the MEGA concert holding on Friday evening attracts a gate fee of N3,000, and on Saturday the final event will be the Ankara Ball and that will set you back N5,000. Visit the festival's official site for more details http://taruwafestival.org/ and follow the festival on Twitter via #Taruwafestival or @TARUWA_

In the mean time, here are the awesome pictures from tonight's packed out show. Also, remember that these are just the first 50 images. The remaining 50 are in the next post. Enjoy!
