Taruwa took things up a notch in April with the headlining act for the evening, Ego. Most of you remember Ego Ogbaro (formerly Ihenacho) from her hits with the masked one, Lagbaja. Well, you probably also know she's gone solo and is aiming for even greater success with her solo career. Ego sang soulful tunes from her current album 'First steps' and she even had a little Q&A session with us gushing fans. It was an awesome evening and quite a surprise for me because I love Ego's voice and I didn't know she was going to be at Taruwa that evening.
The highlight of the evening however was the hilarious moment when dearest Bibi (our usual hostess for the evening) along with Taruwa proprietor, Lydia and rising star Kemi Lala Akindoju, with the help of the Taruwa audience, hijacked the stage and proceeded to sing Lagbaja's 'Never far away'. A song in which Ego gave what can now be called a classic performance. Ego left it up to them to sing and simply watched and laughed in awe. I think she was a bit stunned. Lol. I'll upload the video soon (I hope). In the mean time, enjoy the images.
